The Lord Jesus Christ has already secured the cosmic battlefield for us. He has already won the victory over our sin, our death and our grave plot. Sin, death and the grave cannot hold us anymore than it did him. With this being clearly stated in the word of God then it is perfectly clear that our appointment is not with our death, but with our Savior Jesus Christ. Death will only be the door that leads from the hallways of this life onto the parade grounds of heaven. He has taken the fight to the enemy and he has won. Not only are his enemies put under his footstool, but so are our enemies put under his footstool. And today we are simply basking in the victory he has secured. As believers we do not fight the good fight of keeping the faith to win the victory, we do so simply to participate in His victory.
Even though this is our legal eternal position in Christ, and this is our position of victory over the world, the flesh and the devil, it seems as if we forget that we are on the winning team. We forget to look at the scoreboard where the score is “One to Nothing” because we are so busy down here on the field of life. Every time I open the Bible I see victory, but every time I look at the world I see defeat. Every time I see a believer give up on Bible doctrine, the word of God, I see a defeated believer who doesn’t know he or she is on the winning team and the score has already been posted, God won, the world the flesh and the devil lost. There will be no rematch. There will be no overtime. There will be no sudden death do over. There will be no instant replay to see if God won. God officiates the game and he calls the shots.
The way the world looks today; the way America looks today with all of its arrogance toward the Lord Jesus Christ and its nasty cosmic involvement with bringing down our freedom, our marriages, our families and our nation, I cannot see it being long before Jesus Christ introduces all of his saints to the parade grounds of heaven.
Now!!!
God did not tell us through the Apostle Paul’s writings to always be abounding, and to be unmovable in the work of the Lord for nothing. “Therefore, Gr. particle oste, so that [in light of the victory already secured by Jesus Christ] my beloved brethren, be [present active imperative verb from ginomai, to abide or exist in this life].
1. be steadfast: from edraios, be firm, be settled, be constant in the word of the Lord, which Paul also said in Col.1:23.
2. be unmovable; from ametakinetos, to not be moved away, from the work of the Lord.
What is the work of the Lord? Well, it’s believers becoming like Christ through the inhale, absorption and exhale of God’s divine will, and it is us living for the Lord and telling the lost the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the saved the truth of the word
3. be always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain, kenos, it is not empty in the Lord.” I Cor.15:58.
Living for the Lord is not an empty life; it is a fulfilling life with rich rewards that the world does not have to offer. But only through obedience to the word do we reap that rewarding life.
I encourage you to remain faithful to the word of the Lord as he conforms you to his image. And I encourage you to remain faithful to the work of the Lord, by remaining in fellowship with the Lord; by being faithful to the teaching ministry of your pastor, so that you will know the biblical will of God for your life. I encourage you to support the needs of your local church as it stands as a place where Christ is honored above all.
I believe we are a voice of biblical orthodoxy in an age of apostasy. Saints are not preparing today for eternity; they are preparing to live in this present biological cosmic infested world forever and that’s not going to happen.
The divine assets which the Lord gives to all believers will stand as a testimony to each one at the Bema Seat judgment of Christ that we had the equal opportunity to reach spiritual maturity and honor the Lord with our lives. We will look at these assets next time.
